Cobra said its iRadar app has received 70,000 downloads by iPhone and iPod users since April and it’s heading to all Apple Stores this month.

Cobra iRadar app gets 70K downloads, heads to Apple StoresThe app works with a windshield mount radar detector to let a smartphone serve as the detector’s screen. It uses Bluetooth to communicate between the detector and the iPhone, which then displays your radar alerts and shows you red light camera locations. The $129 iRadar Detection System is widely distributed; it goes on sale at all Apple Stores in mid-June and it is in Walmart, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Sears and Crutchfield.

The iRadar Detection System also works with Android phones.

Better yet, if the sleazy cops weren’t out there looking to raise revenue with their radar guns there wouldn’t be need for this app in the first place.

  2. This seams like a rediculous app. Just one more reason for the driving public to take there eyes off of the road, and play with the phone.

  3. This won’t last, someone from government will write a letter to Steve Jobs asking him to remove the Cobra app from the app store (especially since it shows red light cameras), just like they did with the DUI Checkpoint apps… get it while you can folks!! LOL
