The car stereo grass roots awareness campaign sponsored by the True North Project will now be held September 24 under the theme “Car Audio for Education.”

True North holds car stereo event September 24Retailer Lance Putnam of Audio Center in Kentucky will become the head of True North. The group’s founder, Barry Vogel, will become True North’s administrator as Vogel just took a new post at MiTek Corp.

True North had originally planned a nationwide promotion on June 11, but then “ran into legal issues with the charitable organization with whom we aligned,” said Vogel.

True North provides a template for retailers to hold a promotion on a chosen day at no cost to them.

For the September 24 event, retailers should contact their local school to create a cross promotion. “School budgets are under extreme duress everywhere. Approach any local school with an offer to hold a charity event for the cause of their choice. Hold a car wash, or a bake sale, or any event you may conjure. The school will help you to promote it. Local media will cover it. We will help you to get that done,” said Vogel.

Then retailers should notify True North of their project and ask their suppliers to donate raffle prizes.

The group will provide art and graphics to promote the event.

“The fall season is a great time to set the stage for the all important holiday season. Events like this can help put your store top of mind with consumers before they are inundated with advertising from every retailer in town,” Vogel said.

Retailers may contact Lance Putnam at [email protected] or Barry Vogel at [email protected].
