Apple will introduce a 4G LTE iPhone just after Christmas to be sold through Verizon Wireless, says MacDailyNews.

A tipster spotted the phone during a Verizon training session and said it is already shipping to Verizon warehouses. Verizon will get the exclusive LTE version of the iPhone, he said.

Verizon, which recently launched 4G service in 38 markets does not yet offer a phone to support its faster service but said it would announce LTE phones at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Verizon told Computerworld it would not comment on the rumor, but reiterated that it will offer an LTE smartphone by approximately late February.

The tipster who is described as a credible source also said Apple is helping U.S. carriers build out LTE to get the job done more quickly. This is all rumor but, wow!

Verizon said customers can expect LTE speeds of 5 to 12 megabits per second when downloading and 2 to 5 Mbps when uploading, according to AllThingsD. This appears to be at least twice as fast as some of the best speeds attainable on the iPhone 4G on AT&T’s HSUPA network.
